Ron Carmel (World of Goo) and Noel Llopis (Amazing Alex) are bringing their multiplayer submarine strategy game Subterfuge out for iOS and Android on October 15th.

We first heard about Subterfuge in late 2014 when the handy trailer below was released. It's handy as it makes explaining how Subterfuge works a bit easier.

The gist of the game is this: you enter a week-long game against multiple online players competing to be the first to accumulate 200 kilograms of Neptunium.

It plays out in real-time with each player taking a turn, usually a couple of times each day. You'll get notifications when it's your turn.

To generate Neptunium you need outposts so you can mine the seas. So a lot of the conflict is based around these outposts.

You can try to take outposts by force by sending a submarine over to attack enemies. Or you can be diplomatic and ally with other players against the dominant ones.

But even if you do make friends you will eventually have to betray each other if you want to be the eventual winner.

You can read through the rulebook for a more detailed account of how the game works.
Or my affection put to th' smallest teen,

You can find Flipflop Solitaire as of today on Google Play. Zach Gage’s creative spin on classic solitaire is a must have for mobile card game enthusiasts who missed Flipflop Solitaire when it launched on iOS last year.

In Flipflop Solitaire, you can stack your cards up, down, or both ways, giving you a bit more flexibility. There is one tricky caveat, though. You can only move cards of the same suit stacked together around the board, rather than picking and choosing how you want to separate your stacks. This adds an unexpected layer of challenge that will force you to rethink everything you knew about solitaire.

Columnist Susan Arendt thinks the game is a mainstay for any mobile library. It’s a classic you’ll turn to again and again. You can download Flipflop Solitaire on both iOS and Android.

We're talking about new mobile analytics service Whally. It's the first service of its kind.

It has been set-up by Fred Thuard, a former employee of mobile analytics leader App Annie, to specifically hunt down whales. It was launched on September 11th.

Whales, if you don't know, is the term used to refer to people who spend large sums of money on free to play mobile games.

They make up about one percent of all players but provide the majority of a successful developer's revenue.

Whally tracks playtime and scoring data obtained from GameCenter and social media. This is perfectly legal, if morally questionable, as all the data is publicly available.

Speaking to PocketGamer.biz, Thuard said "we decided to start analysing daily scores of nearly 380 million iOS players, posting daily more than 73+ millions scores in 12 countries within 20 categories of games on 190,000+ iOS mobile games."

That's a lot of people. And a lot of games, too, each of which are ranked according to the number of daily players scoring big on their leaderboards.

The purpose of Whally seems clear: developers can discover what kinds of games (and designs) lure whales the most and then apply these lessons to their own games.
