My spirits t'attend this double voice accorded,
EA has explained why the next version of FIFA for phones and tablets won't feature female players like its console equivalent, FIFA 16.

On consoles, FIFA will get Women's National Teams for the first time, and twelve teams will be playable. What's more, female players will appear on the game's box in the US, Canada, and Australia.

But on mobile, you can only pick from dudes.

The reason? EA says it's because the mobile version is based exclusively on FIFA Ultimate Team, which lets you hire and transfer players to build your own squad of players to compete in international tournaments.

"Because women’s and men’s teams don’t compete against each other at this level in the real world of the sport, women players do not appear in this year’s mobile game," a spokesperson said.

That last line might give some hope that a future mobile game - or perhaps an update to this mobile release - will let the iOS and Android editions of FIFA catch up with their console cousin.
EA Sports FIFA is out on September 22nd.

Mighty Bear Games' food-fight themed battle royale, Butter Royale is set to receive a big update in early August that introduces new NOMs, Power-Ups, Quests and the start of a new Season. We've got all the details exclusively for you all right here.

Two new NOMs – or Nutritionally Operated Machines – will soon be discoverable once you've dropped onto the map. The first is the Durian Launcher which will catapult this smelly fruit at your opponents and surround them with a potent, poisonous cloud.

The second of these weapons is the Piercing Pancakes wrist-mounted device. This fires discs of buttery goodness that are capable of slicing through enemy armour, the first NOM capable of this, meaning a switch in tactics will be needed when facing someone wielding one.

Players will also soon find three new power-ups scattered throughout Butter Island that provide various, short-term effects. For instance, the Aloe Mist can be used to heal yourself and your squad when you're down. Elsewhere, the Shocko-latte will slow your opponents down significantly, allowing you to get in multiple shots. Finally, the Gravy Dip will turn your current NOM into a more powerful Golden variant.

Yesterday at CES, Dell unveiled its Nintendo Switch-like Concept UFO. Much like the Switch, it's a tablet with detachable controllers that can be played either as a handheld or home console of sorts. The twist is that it runs Windows 10 and can play up-to-date PC titles.

From what I've seen, this is a chunky piece of kit that boasts an 8-inch screen, putting it ahead of the Switch's 6.2-inch screen. Specs for the Alienware-branded portable are still unannounced, but some of the playable games at CES include Mortal Kombat 11, World War Z, and Rocket League. I suppose the real test would be seeing how it handles, for example, the recent PC port of Red Dead Redemption 2.

With it being Alienware, I think it's probably safe to assume we're looking at a fairly hefty price tag. Battery life will also be a real decider; it's no doubt going to be incredibly tricky to get Switch-level battery life out of a device designed to play PC games.
We're always pushing what's possible in the realm of gaming. Introducing our newest gaming innovation, #ConceptUFO. Watch the official unveiling on Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. PST. #CES2020 https://t.co/lNV4TM1eXe pic.twitter.com/6TwCI9nfc1— ALIENWARE (@Alienware) 6 January 2020I'd say it's all very early days, though despite the name, Concept UFO seems a little further along in development than your average fantasy hardware shown off at a tech show. It's not just a far-fetched concept but a real, playable system at this point.

So if it does make it to market, will it be a sizeable competitor to the Switch? I'd say probably not. The inevitably ludicrous price alone will be enough to put most off, and then there are the numerous concerns regarding battery life, overheating, and specs. Part of the appeal of the Switch is its simplicity, not to mention the quality of Nintendo's first-party titles, which is something you might lose here. Tom's Guide has further info in their hands-on.

Regardless, shrinking a gaming laptop down to a Switch-style system is a neat idea, and I look forward to seeing how the Concept UFO shifts and changes over time.
Decade In Review: How mobile games have changed'For further I could say this man's untrue,
Gamescom has been a week so far of announcements, sneak peeks, and previews, and Feral Interactive has just revealed some massive Tropico-related news. Or, rather, some awesome Tropico gameplay.
Get your first in-depth look at Tropico for iPad in our brand new gameplay video!Watch on YouTube as our undercover investigator reveals some of the biggest and best features of Tropico, coming to iPad this Autumn.https://t.co/2EuUH80bnB— Feral Interactive (@feralgames) August 24, 2018 If you missed out on our last couple of pieces, Tropico's on its way to iPad and it's totally been built from the ground up. In theory, that means that we should be getting comfortable controls, fluid gameplay, and a fantastic experience to add to our gaming libraries. If it's anything like ROME: Total War, we'll be grand.

You'll play as El Presidente, the leader of the resource-rich Carribean island of Tropico, and have multiple demands and factions to address throughout your rule. This new gameplay shows off the visuals, audio, new UI, and its touch-related controls.

It's looking pretty straight forward to control (i.e. moving around by dragging your finger and twisting to rotate). Though we still don't have a release date, only autumn 2018, the game's looking functional and nicely polished. Hopefully that means we'll get it on the earlier side of autumn.

Wavefront has been a long time coming.

It's an action puzzler that was originally released as Waveform for PC back in 2012, and I loved it.

It's actually the first game by Eden Industries, who you may now know as the studio creating the Earthbound-inspired RPG Citizens of Earth.

Wavefront is quite a bit different from that game, mind. You manipulate the amplitude and wavelength of a wave of light as you travel across the solar system.

Your goal is to restore light to a dying galaxy that is being consumed by a singularity.

It's easy enough to play, as you just use your finger to move the wave around. But the level design forces you to react fast otherwise you'll perish.

Some levels let you take it slower, while some will see you being chased by the singularity, putting your skills to the test.

Even tougher levels add wormholes, particle accelerators, and the "Space Squids of Venus" for you to either travel through or avoid.

I had a lot of fun with it on PC and it's a game that I always thought would play much better on the touchscreen.

You'll be able to purchase Wavefront for £1.99 / $2.99 on the UK and US App Stores at midnight.
