Stumbling into a mysterious machine at the lab where he works has stripped him of skin and flesh, leaving behind an animated skeleton.

In Spooky Pooky, you must traverse the facility’s dangerous halls to recover your blood and organs.

Those organs act as power-ups that provide special abilities as well as unfortunate disadvantages. Lungs will allow Horatio to swim underwater, but also make him susceptible to drowning. A heart boosts his strengths, but extended use can lead to a heart attack.

A spleen provides increased protection against damage; a brain allows Horatio to activate machines. You may even find non-human organs that result in bizarre side-effects.

You'll need to combine the functions of various organs to solve puzzles and explore new areas, as well as defeat the lab's automated defence system and its array of lasers, robots, escaped genetic experiments, and irritated monkeys.

Spooky Pooky will release on iOS either late this year or in early 2016; a PC/MAC/Linux version is planned afterwards and the developer also hopes to release on Android

You can follow Spooky Pooky's progress on Twitter and in the game’s TIGSource devlog.

Announced today, Train Conductor 3 certainly seems to be the best-looking entry in the choo-choo action-strategy series so far.

Yep, the improvements over Train Conductor 2: USA are easy to spot in Train Conductor 3, as you'd hope considering the four year gap between the two.

This is the result of developer The Voxel Agents building the game from the ground up. It has dynamic lighting, HD textures, reflection maps, and lots more detail.

These improvements are more than just looks, mind. The length of shadows is how you tell you how much time you have left in each round - sunrise to sunset - so it makes for a slick interface, too.

Train Conductor 3 brings the series up to scratch for what we've come to expect from modern mobile games, then. But is it still fun?

Friday was the second press day on the show floor, the last day of relative calmness before the storm of over 100,000 weekend punters per day, each hoping to play their favourite upcoming titles.

As you may have seen, we've put up our hands-on video and article for the New 3DS XL as Capcom are running their first Monster Hunter 4G demo on the unit.

Speaking of Monster Hunter, the series is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and Capcom's gone all-out in its merchandising. Monster Hunter Ducati, anyone?

One of the iOS titles to stand out amongst dozens was Requiem, from Chinese developers Hippie Game. It's a silky smooth beat 'em up that knows its heritage well.

Qubit Games new swipe-based robo-brawler Qubot, is promising some pretty nifty features. Fans who design their own robots can have their designs injected into the game if they prove popular enough.

Former Big Indie Pitch contender RAD Boarding from Other Ocean was a delight to play, shaping up to be just the right mix of Tiny Wings gameplay with a neat trick system and plenty of replay value.

I thoroughly enjoyed squishing some giant ants as I jetpack-propelled my way around Westminster in D3's Earth Defense Force 2 Portable V2.

Oh, and fans of Spelunky should prepare themselves for La-Mulana EX coming to PS Vita by way of Pygmy Games. Stay tuned for hands-on videos with both.

The SEGA booth focuses heavily on handhelds this year with Phantasy Star Nova (successor to Phantasy Star Portable), new RPG End of Eclipse, and 2D fighter Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax on PS Vita.

The latest entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal was joined by niche rhythm game Hatsune Miku: Project mirai Deluxe in SEGA's 3DS area.

We'll have more hands-on videos on Pocket Gamer and our YouTube channel over the coming days.

Vile Monarch's Oh… Sir! The Insult Simulator was possibly the weirdest game I saw at gamescom this year.

Picture a fighting game - like Street Fighter or Tekken - except to hurt someone you don't punch them, or kick them, or throw bins at them.

You insult them.

You and your opponent have a shared pool of words and phrases you can use, plus your own personal selection. You then take turns to piece together a coherent and abusive message to hurl at the other person.

Each character has weaknesses, plus there are critical hits and even combos: insult your opponent's mother three turns in a row, for example, and you'll get a hefty damage bonus.

Playing in local multiplayer mode made me laugh more in five minutes than most games manage over an entire campaign.

What can I say, I just like being rude to people.
Oh… Sir! The Insult Simulator is coming to iOS and Android later this summer, and will feature cross platform play between those systems as well as with PC and Mac."That's just my point. It IS serious. Here is a man who is a helpless burden. He may be restored to reason and usefulness--"
